Basic Information

High-Quality Violin Instruction Wherever You Are

Sometimes the right teacher isn’t the closest one. Online lessons make it possible to take consistent lessons with a high-level violin teacher from anywhere. I work online via zoom with intermediate and advanced students who have at least one year of playing experience. Please note: I do not teach beginning violin students online.

My approach is adaptable, root-based/analytical, and student-driven, and this does not change in online lessons. The only difference between online and in-person lessons is the medium of instruction. In online lessons, I take you just as seriously and hold you to the same standard as I would in-person, and most students are able to make progress just as quickly.

Is Online Learning Right for You?

Online lessons are an excellent option if you:

  • live in Portland without reliable access to transportation
  • have limited mobility
  • live outside of Portland in an area without access to a professional violin teacher
  • live outside of Portland and want to supplement your lessons with your primary teacher
  • travel frequently
  • have already studied for at least one year

Try an Online Lesson

If you are used to taking in-person lessons, online lessons can feel a bit different at first, even though the lesson structure is the same. A free trial lesson can help you decide whether online lessons feel right for you. During the trial lesson, we’ll discuss the practical and technological aspects of taking lessons via zoom. We’ll also talk about where you are in your violin journey and I’ll describe how I would approach working with you based on where you are and what your goals are. You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and decide whether my teaching style and the virtual setting feels like the right fit for you.
